| OBITUARY: | A celebration of the life of Charles L. Campbell, 86, of Geneva, will be 1 PM Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.
Mr. Campbell passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009.
Born April 19, 1922 in Jobs, Ohio, he had lived in Eastlake more than 40 years before moving to Geneva about two years ago.
He was a World War II US Army Air Force veteran and was an avid gardener and fisherman.
Mr. Campbell retired from the Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation in Euclid, after 30 years.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Kathryn J. (Altman) Campbell; children, Kathy (Ernie) Kerezsi of Geneva, Charles C. Campbell of Painesville and Craig S. Campbell of Eastlake; grandchildren, Mike (Angie) Pastva, Kelly (Mark) Cichowski; Kimberly (Pat) Short, Chris (Jeanne) Kerezsi, Tracy (Jeremy) Jeschenig and Walter (Shannon) Campbell and 15 great grandchildren. He also leaves many loving nieces, nephews and friends and their families.
His parents, William and Maggie (Lanning) Campbell and siblings, Mary, Ethel, Gertrude, Minnie, Anna-Mae, Margarete, William, Harvey, James, Lawrence, Milton and David are deceased.
Friends may call from 2-4, 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. Elder Kenneth Sowers, Jr. of The Prince of Peace Church will officiate at the celebration. Final resting place will be in North Madison Cemetery, Madison Township.

Mrs. Kuver passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at Kemper House in Mentor.
Born Jan. 11, 1938 in Jersey City, New Jersey, she has been a resident of Lake County since 1970, living in Willoughby and Mentor.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Willoughby and served as president of the Ladies Guild at the Church for several years. She was an avid golfer, playing regularly at Erie Shores Golf Club in Madison and at Blackbrook Golf Club in Mentor where she won three Class A trophies.
Mrs. Kuver was a beautician who cared for residents of area nursing homes and assisted living centers.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Robert Kuver; children, Janice (Ron) Bixel of Willoughby and Robert (Maggie) Birmingham, stationed in Chesapeake, Virginia with the United States Navy; grandchildren, Alyssa, Bobby, Tyler and Conrad; and her brother, John Drewes. She also leaves her step-sons, Ron and Bob Kuver and their families.
Her first husband, Robert F. Birmingham, passed away in 1981. Her parents, Gustav and Gertrude (Werner) Drewes are also deceased.
The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM Monday, January 5, at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. The Rev. Robert D. Schuler, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in Willoughby Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Turner passed away December 28, 2008 at Golden Living Center Western Reserve in Kirtland
Born October 3, 1911 in Cleveland, she lived in Mayfield Heights before moving to Kirtland 37 years ago.
She was a member of Kirtland Grange, Lamplighters and Senior Center. She loved her family, and enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood pranks with them. She also loved to sew and feed the wildlife in her yard.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Georgia) Turner of Berea, and Theresa Nagy and Mary Ellen (Ralph T.) Carter, both of Kirtland; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Her husband, Norvin D. Turner passed away in 1992. Her parents, John and Theresa Crost, brother, Philip Crost and sister, Rachel Crost are also deceased.
There will be no calling hours. The Rev. Michael currier of the Body of Christ Community will officiate at the service. Private burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield Heights.

| OBITUARY: | Funeral services for Alis P. Gizigian, 85, of Mentor will be on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Kirtland Bethel Bible Church, 10172 Chillicothe Road, Kirtland. Mrs. Gizigian died on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 in Willoughby.
She was born Nov. 21, 1923 in Cleveland, the daughter of Samuel and Helen Holigian Bejeckian. Her children felt that she was the greatest mother who ever lived. She enjoyed being with people in a room filled with laughter. She liked to read her Bible and loved to go shopping. She also enjoyed just sitting and watching classic movies. She adored her grandchildren and will be dearly missed by those who loved her.
Mrs. Gizigian is survived by her daughters Alyce Gizigian of Mentor, Patricia (Christopher) Hauer and Cynthia Ash of Kirtland; a son, Robert, of Mentor; five grandchildren: Stephanie, Valerie, Bryan and Dylan Ash and Christopher Hauer; a sister, Mary Carden of Hudson; and a brother, Harry Bejeckian of Miami, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas in 1980; her parents; and a brother, John.
Friends may call at the church on Friday from 3-7 p.m. Pastor Douglas Browning will officiate at the services. Burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.

Born May 1, 1918 in Konnarock, Virginia she lived in North Carolina and then in Mentor for 45 years, moving to Roaming Shores with her daughter for two years and returning to Mentor about 18 months ago.
She was a Charter Member of Willoughby Baptist Church and the Historical Engine Society. She won many awards as a member of TOPS and enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, crafts, gardening and country music.
Survivors are her children, Dillard “Dee” (Shirley) Kirby of Lenoir, North Carolina; Roger D. (Mary Ann) Kirby of Mentor and Rebecca (Frank) Fronk of Roaming Shores; grandchildren, Daniel (Derry) Kirby, Mitzi Carlton, Dell Kirby, Robin Kirby, Brian Kirby, Dean (Penny) Kirby, Jason (Geneva) Kirby, Adam (Jennifer) Kirby, Don (Connie) Hunchuck and Amber Fronk; great grandchildren, Jason, Derek, Dakoda, Tyler, Kyle, James, Maria, Madison, Kaitlin and Melody; siblings, Mary Alice Blevins, Avery Severt and Howard Severt. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Kathleen E. Kirby and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her husband, Oscar M. Kirby passed away June 28, 1995. Her son, Larry D. Kirby, parents, Arthur and Laura (Reedy) Severt, sisters, Clemmie, Edith, Ruby, Ruth and Blanche and brothers, Garland and Clarence are also deceased.

Her husband, Ralph F. Boyd passed away January 28, 1986. Her parents, Carl and Jennie Anderson and sisters, Signe, Ella, Ruth and Jane.

She was born Sept. 9, 1931 in Cleveland, the daughter of Frank and Violet L. Powell Worgull. She and her husband Murray spent six months each year in Mission doing church work. Mrs. Seldon made visits to a Mexican orphanage, and made afghans and dolls (along with the doll dresses) to give away to the poor children in the Mexican villages along the Rio Grande. She brought joy to many of the poor and forgotten.
Mrs. Seldon is survived by her husband, Murray; daughter Dianna Seldon of Jefferson; sons Michael of Willoughby and Roger of Wickliffe; 5 grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Chimenti of Macedonia. She was preceded in death by her parents and by two sons, Thomas and Eric.

Her husband of 59 years, Arnold E. Scott, passed away January 11, 2008. Her parents, Michael and Teckla (Babinski) Gido and sister, Dorothy Hamila are also deceased.

Born August 15, 1970 in Key West, Florida, he was a longtime Euclid resident before moving to Eastlake earlier this year.
He was an avid reader and a member of the PTA at Washington Elementary School in Eastlake. He was a loving father and adored his son; Al was the center of his life and he would do anything for him.
Survivors are his beloved son, Al Cutter and his mother, Danielle Cutter; loving mother, Linda Carnes of Ashtabula and loving father, David (Barbara) Johnson of Euclid; sisters, Kimberly Carnes (Carl Barile) of Roaming Shores, and Heather (Jim) Shull of Holly Springs, North Carolina; and step-brother, Aaron Braegger of Redondo Beach, California. He also leaves his companion and friend, Christina Forgione and many nieces and nephews.

She was born Aug. 27, 1933 in Cleveland, the daughter of Blake and Mabel Sherman. She was raised in Cleveland and moved to Willoughby in 1975. Mrs. Dzama was employed by the Euclid Board of Education as an elementary school teacher for 28 years, and taught at Wells, Benjamin Franklin and Upson schools. She retired in 1985.
Mrs. Dzama was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby, the West End YMCA, Hiking Seniority and Burroughs Nature Club of Willoughby. She was a former volunteer for 3 ½ years at Fairmount Health Center.
Mrs. Dzama is survived by her son, James Modic, a step-daughter Diane (Phil) Szampias, and a step-granddaughter, Amanda Szampias.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Thomas Sherman, and a sister Jean Sherman. She married twice, first to Harold Modic who died in 1957 and then to George Dzama who died in 1994.

Mr. Auhl passed into eternity in the company of family members in Spring, Texas on Monday, Dec. 15.
He was born Jan. 21, 1928 in Cleveland, the son of Carl and Edna Swickard Auhl. He was a 1948 graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and served in the Ohio National Guard. He worked in various divisions at TRW for 30 years.
In 1952 Carl married Janet Delora Zook (deceased 2003) and lived in Mentor for 54 years.
Carl is survived by daughters Deborah (Bud) Talbert and Elaine Wolf; grandchildren Jessica Wolf, David (Desiree), Delaura, Sarah, Anna, and Emma Talbert; and great-grandsons Camren and Kyle Hantman.

Mrs. Di Penti passed away Thurs., Dec. 11, 2008 at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria.
Born September 26, 1921 in Germany, she immigrated to the United States 60 years ago, settling in the Cleveland area. She was a longtime Willoughby resident before moving to Painesville, and to Elyria two years ago.
She was an avid photographer and former member of the Western Reserve Photographic Society. In addition, she was a winter resident of Park City, Utah where she learned to snow ski.
Mrs. Di Penti was an international secretary at the former Bailey Meter Company in Wickliffe before retiring in 1985 after 30 years of service.
She is survived by her children, Michael Gunn of Willoughby and Vicki (Jim) Cranfield of Hammond, New York; two grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She also leaves her longtime companion, Jim McEvoy of Elyria.
Her parents and two brothers are deceased.

Mrs. Cartwright died Dec. 5, 2008 at Lake East Hospital in Painesville.
Born Feb. 10, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Maurice and Alice Bystrum Harmon.
Mrs. Cartwright lived most of her life in Lake County. She was a long-time member of the former St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Mentor, where she as a secretary and deacon, as well as in other capacities. After the church changed its name to Faith Community Church, her health began to decline and she was not able to attend as often.
Mrs. Cartwright’s passion was her large family, whom she loved. They will miss her most.
She is survived by her children: Cathy (Timothy) Wineman and Lynda C. Cartwright of Mentor and Jeffrey A. Cartwright and Tammy (Robert) Penko of Madison; grandchildren: Rick (Sandi), Jamie, Randy (Tracy), Mat, Tiffany, David, Stacy (Ron), Tim (Ashley); great-grandchildren: Carly, Nicholas, Aubrey, Gavin, Catarina, Corbin, Anden, David, Gracie, Isabelle and Ian; and sister, Dinah Hathaway of Grand River.
She was preceded in death her husband of 55 years, Alvin, in 2003.

Born October 20, 1952 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he has lived in Lake County for the past 21 years.
Mr. Rutherford retired after 32-years of service at Rockwell Automation in December 2007. He was a co-founder of NOREC, LLC in 2008.
Survivors are his wife of 30 years, Marjorie (Leppanen) Rutherford; sons, Steven (Linda Hollis) Rutherford, Ph.D., of Princeton, New Jersey; Daniel (Katie Sullivan) Rutherford, a Specialist in the US Army, stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; David Rutherford of Willoughby and Ricky Stansbury, also of Willoughby; granddaughter, Mya Rutherford; mother, Louise Rutherford and sister, Karen Rutherford, both of Waltham, Massachusetts and brothers, Patrick (Ellen) Rutherford of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Michael (Kris) Rutherford of North Reading, Massachusetts. Mrs. Zevnik was a member of the Master’s United Methodist Church in Euclid, and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors are her daughter, Judith (James) Dobrowolski, of The Villages, Florida; daughter-in-law Louise Zevnik of Jefferson; grandchildren, Jeff (Donna Mosher) Dobrowolski, of Dorr, Michigan; Jack (Kathy Childress) Dobrowolski of Mentor-on-the-Lake; Janet (Wally) Post of Austinburg; and Jason (Kathy) Hufford, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; sister, Ruby (Howard) Irish of Mentor and sisters-in-law Mary Paris, of Conneaut and Herta Paris of Strongsville. She also leaves her nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Zevnik and her son, John R. Zevnik. Her parents, Charles R. and Mary E. (Sumner) Paris and siblings, Irene Brown, Cecil, Clifford and William Paris are also deceased.

| OBITUARY: | Marie G. (Wagner) Palliser, 96, of Mentor, passed away December 3, 2008 at Hospice House in Cleveland.
Born June 13, 1912 in Cleveland, she was a longtime Lake County resident, having lived in Willoughby for 34 years before moving to Mentor.
She was a former member of Willoughby United Methodist Church and member of Willoughby, Mentor and Lakeside Federation of Woman’s Clubs. She was also a member of the Willoughby Fine Arts Association, the Mentor Miscellany Club and was an avid bridge player.
Mrs. Palliser enjoyed telling how, in 1963, she started working at the former Automation Development Corporation in Mentor, one day per week as payroll clerk and retired in 1987 as treasurer of the company. Prior to this time she had worked at the former Kinter’s and Gressel’s Grocery stores and also the former Meil’s Department Store, all in downtown Willoughby.
She is survived by her children, William (Susan) Palliser of Mentor, Diane (Tom) Szabo of Concord Township and Donna (Robert) Bachnicki of Perry; grandsons, Cory (Staci) and Daniel Bachnicki and William and Brian Palliser. She took particular pride in her great granddaughter, Deora Marie Bachnicki. She also leaves her siblings, Albert and Henry Wagner and Joan Lenihan, all of Canada.
Her husband, William Palliser, passed away in 2000.
Private burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
The family will host an open house in her memory from 2-5 PM Sunday (Dec. 7)
at The Annex, located in the Kennedy House, at 38039 West Spaulding Street, in Willoughby, across the street from Davis-Babcock Funeral Home.

Before ill health caused her to retire, Nancy worked for Jack’s Pizza (now Corduroys Pizza) in the Headlands as a cook. She volunteered for many years as an election worker at the polls. She loved to sew and collected Longaberger baskets.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Robert; five sons: Bobby of Eastlake, Gary (Amy) and Chris (Kristen) both of Mentor, Jeff (Angie) of Perry, and Seth of Cleveland; a daughter, Tania (Bob) Allen of Madison; a sister, Cathy (George) Michney-Zahler of Madison; and nine grandchildren: Bobby, Amy, Victory, Zachary, Parker, Ryder, Olivia, Kylie and Bailey.

He served as an umpire for Little League baseball in Eastlake and attended Erieside Church on the Boulevard. He also enjoyed walking and playing golf. Following his son’s example, Mr. Cole was an eye and tissue donor.
Mr. Cole is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters Vanessa (Barry) Basinger of Norfolk, Va, and Cecilee; son Nicholas; brothers Mike (Barb) Cole of Hickory, N. Carolina and Keith (Kay) Cole of Painesville; sisters Sherry Hight of N. Ridgeville, Ohio and Coleen Lette of Wickliffe; and a granddaughter Taylor.
Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his son Tyler on Oct. 12, 2008; his parents; a brother-in-law, Bill Hight; and a sister-in-law, Billie Jean Cole.

He served as an usher, trustee and member of the Building and Grounds Committee. He was the leader of our family and an instant friend to all he met. He also loved boxing and was an avid Ohio State fan.
Bob was employed as a forge press operator at Park Drop Forge in Cleveland for more than 40 years before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean (Flowers); children, Robert C. (Sharie) Stewart, Jr. of New Concord, Ohio, Debbie (Bill) Gum of Richmond Heights, Ohio, Samuel S. She was compassionate and provided comfort to the homebound and dying. She loved writing cards and letters to her friends and family, and was an avid rose gardener. She enjoyed playing Bingo and bowling with her friends. Mrs. Leskiw loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. They always brought a sparkle to her eye.
Even though she had many adversities, she always overcame them. She taught her children to be strong, and they will miss her.
She is survived by her children Rosanne Leskiw Lenz and her companion Roger Eastabrooks, Bryan Leskiw and Anne (Frank) Hathy; grandchildren Jeffrey (Laura) Lenz, Christopher Leskiw, and Samuel, Joseph and Victoria Hathy; her former husband and friend Norman Leskiw; and a brother David (Diane) Dalton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Michael Dalton and a daughter Christine Marie Leskiw.

She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Willowick. Her family will remember her as a devoted mother, grandma, great-grandma and neighborhood friend. As her husband, Lee, often mentioned, shopping was her hobby. Also, she and Lee could be found selling their crafts at craft shows well into their 80’s.
She is survived by her children, Lee (Nancy) Shaffer of Mentor, Karen (Carmen) Buttari of Painesville and Sharon Melaragno of Mentor; grandchildren, Dan (Shelly) Buttari, Kelly (Steve) Rudin, Joe (Jessica) Buttari and Randy (Dana) Shaffer; great grandchildren, Dominic, Nicholas, Allison, Tony, Bella and Joey.

He retired from House of La Rose Beverage Distributors in Cleveland after many years of service as an accountant. He was a US Army veteran, having served in World War II.
He was an active member of the Masonic fraternity and its concordant bodies. He served as Past Grand Patron, Ohio Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in 1991. He was a member of Mentor Lodge #772, F & AM, Willoughby Chapter #202, Order of the Eastern Star, Willoughby High Twelve Club, Al Koran Shrine and the Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland. He was also a member of Bible Community Church in Mentor.
He is survived by his daughter Barbara, of Mentor; three grandchildren, Megan, Jenna and BJ; and a brother, Hayes (Jane) Kelley of Cincinnati. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Robert Paul, and a brother George.

Services for Janet M. (Blevins) Thorne, 73, of Kirtland, will be 11 AM Thursday at the Kirtland Community of Christ, 9017 Chillicothe Rd., Kirtland.
Mrs. Thorne passed away November 1, 2008n at Rae-Ann Nursing Home in Geneva.
Born May 8, 1935 in Dunham, Kentucky, she has lived in Kirtland since 1964.
She was a member of Kirtland Community of Christ and a lifelong member of American Legion Post 609 in Kirtland. She was an avid book reader and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Survivors are her children, Michael (Mary Jo) Trent of Mentor, Diane “Dee Dee” (Rex) Barnett of Madison and Ernest (Jennilyn) Thorne of Kirtland; grandchildren, Kyle and Christopher Trent, David and Craig Rorapaugh, Rex Jr., Justin, Hilary and Kennedy Barnett and Anthony and Christopher Piazza; brothers, Ernest “Buddy” (Gayle) Blevins of Luray, Virginia, Rodney “Bobby” Blevins of Jenkins, Kentucky, Gary Blevins of Harpersfield Township, and sister, Lana (Christopher) Pavick and Galloway, Ohio. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her husband, Lloyd D. Thorne, Jr. passed away June 30, 2005. Her parents, Ernest and Alta Mae (Haynes) Blevins are also deceased.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Wednesday at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Her dearest brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Shirley Davidson will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.

| OBITUARY: | Dr. Erle H. Wildermuth, O.D. Age 88, of Willowick passed away Monday, October 27, 2008 at Manorcare Nursing Home in Willoughby.
Born January 28, 1920 in Montgomery, Ill, he had been a Lake County resident for the last 56 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving as ranking operations officer/pilot for the 84th Glider Squadron of the 437th Troup Carrier Group, during the D-Day Operation Overlord invasion of France and later in the Operation Market Garden invasion of Holland.
He was a graduate of Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa and the Ohio State University School of Optometry.
Dr. Wildermuth practiced as a Doctor of Optometry at his offices in Willowick for over 40 years, and was known and loved by generations of patients, friends, family and colleagues. He was also a licensed minister in the Community of Christ Church, serving in myriad local, district and mission level positions over the years.
He was the beloved husband of Helen “Tina” (nee Hughes); the loving father of Michael (Cindy) Wildermuth of Willoughby; father-in-law of Sue Wildermuth of Houston, Texas; and grandfather of Kevin, James, Brenda, Cara and Alexa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome F. and Erma H. Wildermuth, brother, Howard W. Wildermuth and son, Dr. James F. Wildermuth.
A service to remember and celebrate his life will be held at 10 a.m., November 15, 2008 at the Kirtland Community of Christ Church at 9017 Chillicothe Road, Kirtland, with visitation with the family from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, Willoughby.

She then graduated from Willoughby-Eastlake School of Practical Nursing in 1971, and enjoyed a 30-year career in nursing, retiring from Breckenridge Village at age 64. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, gardening, and reading.

Born January 23, 1958 in Cleveland, she had lived in Lake County since 1963.
She was a member of Reformation Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan, win or lose. She enjoyed her garden, crafts and coaching softball, where she was affectionately known as “Coach Red.” She also enjoyed riding her scooter, working jigsaw puzzles, and always had a bag of sunflower seeds and an instant bingo ticket within reach.
Linda was a homemaker who loved her family and was a friend to many.
She is survived by her husband, lover and friend of 25 years, Jeff; children, David A. (Holly) Goglin, Gregory J. Goglin and Samantha J. Goglin and niece, Amanda L. Sibert. She was a proud parent and grandma to Jordan, Nathan and Mia, a daughter of Sara E. Sibert of El Campo, Texas and sister of Mickey Sibert of Jefferson, Thomas Sibert of Painesville and Norma Cox of El Campo, Texas. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her father Mickey Sibert is deceased.

She loved cooking and baking, and was noted for her German potato salad and pinwheels. She enjoyed listening to polka music, and enjoyed playing Bingo. She was a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Born March 23, 1921 in Cleveland, she was a lifelong Willoughby resident.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Willoughby. She and her late husband were lifelong boaters and members of the Chagrin Lagoons Yacht Club. She had also been a volunteer at Lake West Hospital and was a former member of the Siren Club with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Willoughby Volunteer Fire Department.
Mrs. Fuller was co-owner with her husband of Fuller Furniture in Willoughby for 45 years before her retirement.
Survivors are her daughter, Virginia K. (Charles) Goebelbecker; sons, James E. (Elizabeth) Fuller and John D. (Pamela) Fuller; grandchildren, Thomas (Lisabeth), David (Hope) and Michael (Estella) Goebelbecker, Christine (Grant) Hedrick, John (Lili) and Jason (Becky) Fuller and Andrea (Haydn)
Rowe; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Sydney, Mara, Anna, William, Haiden, Maximus, Benjamin, Samuel, Rachel and Elizabeth.
Her husband, Robert Dean Fuller, died Aug. 31, 1996 and son, Richard L. Fuller, died in June 10, 1989. Her parents, John and Eva Grady and siblings, Ralph Grady, Catherine Thamer and Donald Grady, are also deceased.

He was born Aug. 17, 1992 in Mooresville, North Carolina, the son of Kenneth Robert and Karen Sue Woody Cole. He was a student at Willoughby North High School, where he was active in football and wrestling. Last year he was given the John Matucci award for wrestling and was named JV Wrestler of the Year. He also played baseball and went to Little League state championships when he was 13.
Tyler attended Erieside Church on the Boulevard. He was an outgoing friend and dedicated son. All of those whom he touched will miss him.
Tyler is survived by his parents; a brother, Nicholas Cole; his sisters Vanessa (Barry) Basiger of Norfolk, Virginia, and Cecilee Cole; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Tyler gave the gift of sight through eye donation.

Dr. Ruiz-Bueno passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008 at her home in Florida.
Born October 26, 1937 in Clinton, Oklahoma to the late Melvin and Susie (Henry) Branson.
Dr. Ruiz-Bueno was a Daughter of the American Revolution, as she was related to Patrick Henry. She grew up in Tucson, Arizona where she met her husband, Juan C. Ruiz-Bueno, M.D., who was a naturalized citizen from Peru, South America. They were married in Tucson in 1956.
Together, they moved to Willoughby, Ohio to establish a medical practice in 1961. Her husband was an OB & GYN and she was both the office manager and nurse. She later became a Certified Nurse Midwife and delivered many babies herself. Her husband, Dr. Juan Carlos Ruiz-Bueno passed away in December 30, 2005.
She was a graduate of the Cleveland State University (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and the University of Minnesota (Certified Nurse Midwife, Master of Science in Nursing and Ph.D. in Nursing). Dr. Ruiz-Bueno was the first Ph.D. graduate from the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota. She was a member of many nursing organizations, including the American College of Nurse Midwives.
Dr. Ruiz-Bueno was a professor and director of graduate nursing programs in many universities, including SUNY at Buffalo, Univ. of Indiana, Univ. of Kentucky, Univ. of Southern Fla., and the Univ. of Cincinnati. She retired from teaching at the Univ. of Cincinnati and was honored with the title of Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing, Emerita in 2004. She authored many professional articles on health, nursing and stress, and co-authored several books in the field of nursing including: Fundamentals of Nursing: Human Health and Function, and Clinical Pain Management: Acute Pain.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Ruiz-Bueno of Willoughby and Paul (Lori) Ruiz-Bueno of Willowick; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Edwards, John (Jessie) Ruiz-Bueno, James Ruiz-Bueno, Julie Ruiz-Bueno, Jordan Ruiz-Bueno, Amy Ruiz-Bueno, Amber Ruiz-Bueno and Nicole Ruiz-Bueno and brother, Jack (Heidi Dowe) Branson of Citrus Springs, Florida.

Mrs. Sasser was born Oct. 20, 1922 in Bellefontaine, the daughter of Jay S. and Ethel Nash Sloan. She was a nurse’s aide for 27 years at the Mentor Way Villa, retiring in 2002. She had previously worked for the American Red Cross during the Vietnam era, helping with communications between servicemen and their families, and was also the former matron of the Caylee Lake County Receiving Home, where she cared for many foster and adoptive children with her late husband Leonard, who was the superintendent of the home.
Mrs. Sasser was a member of Mentor Christian Church. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and reading books. She was devoted to her family, who will dearly miss her.
She is survived by her daughter, Doria (Dan) Matchick, of Brooklyn, Mich.; granddaughter Lynn(John) Morrow of Painesville; and two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and John Morrow, Jr.

| OBITUARY: | Funeral Mass for Ella M. Lessick, 78, of Eastlake will be 10 AM Monday, October 6, 2008 at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church, 35781 Stevens Blvd, Eastlake. Mrs. Lessick died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Fairways Nursing Home in Wickliffe.
She was born May 20, 1930, the daughter of Patrick and Mildred Gehron Layhew. She worked as the cafeteria manager at Eastlake Junior High school for more than 20 years. She loved gardening and needlepoint, and especially loved travelling with her husband in their motor home. She was a member of St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church and a resident of Lake County for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Susan) Lessick, of Willoughby; granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Lessick of Middlefield; mother, Mildred M. Layhew of Natrona Heights, Penn.; and siblings, Patty Ruppel of Oakmont, Penn., Ronald Layhew of Youngstown, Jeanine (Glen) Warren of Natrona Heights and Patrick (Ann Marie) Layhew of Natrona Heights.
She was preceded in death by her father and by her husband Charles in 1995.

Mrs. Blackman passed away September 30, 2008 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby.
Born November 28, 1924 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, she has lived in Mentor for the past 61 years.
She was a member of Willoughby United Methodist Church, the Brentwood Garden Club in Mentor and the Willoughby Area Chamber of Commerce. She was also an honorary member of the Lake Shore Live Steamers.
A homemaker, she assisted her husband in the operation of his business, Blackman Plumbing and Heating and was formerly a clerk for the late Judge Clair in Willoughby.
Survivors are her daughters, Barbara (Richard) Huntoon of Mentor and Becky (Dennis) Kenkel of St. Louis, Missouri; grandsons, Major Andrew (Major Lisa) Huntoon, USAF; Kevin Huntoon and Scott Huntoon; great grandson, Bryce Huntoon; sisters, Betty Hessley of Houston, Texas and Geraldine (David) Whitfield of Hilton Head, South Carolina and brother-in-law, Norman Senkyr of Winchester, Kentucky.
Her husband of 29 years, Bruce C. Blackman, passed away November 22, 1976. Her parents, A. Frank and Eva (Moore) McClure and sister, Kathryn Senkyr are also deceased.
Friends may call from 10-11:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Warren Campbell-Gaston of Willoughby United Methodist Church will officiate at the service. Private burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.

| OBITUARY: | Services for Marian Bechtol Schmitt, 93, of Mentor, formerly of Willoughby, will be 2PM Sunday, October 12, at Willoughby United Methodist Church, 15 Public Square, Willoughby.
Marian passed away Wednesday, October 1, at Fairmount Health Center in Willoughby.
Born June 14, 1915 in Lakewood, Ohio she had lived in Willoughby since 1917, before moving to Salida Woods in Mentor four years ago.
She was a member of Willoughby United Methodist Church for 80 years, of which she served as the church organist for more than 63 years. She also served as an organist at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home in Willoughby and taught piano and organ at the Andrews School in Willoughby for 25 years. She also gave private lessons in her home until last year.
Marian was a graduate of the former Willoughby Union High School and attended the former Flora Stone Mather College at Western Reserve University in Cleveland. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Willoughby Women’s Club and the American Guild of Organists.
She is survived by her children, Sandy Riggin of Mentor and P. David (Barbara) Schmitt of Zeeland, Michigan; grandchildren, Shelley (Darren) Muchnicki of Mentor, Kristy (Dennis) Murphy of Oakbrook, Illinois, Eric Schmitt and Karlye (Steve) McNeely of Zeeland, Michigan; great grandchildren, Ethan, Aidan, Denny, James, Ella Marian, Grace, Peter and Audrey; brother, Joseph “Dutch” (Phyllis) Bechtol of Vass, North Carolina and sister in law, Ellen Bechtol of Lindenhurst, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. and Mabel Bechtol and her brothers, Ernest and Robert Bechtol.

| OBITUARY: | Funeral Mass for Joan D’Amico, 77, of Mentor, will be on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd, Mentor. Mrs. D’Amico died Sunday, September 28 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby.
She was born June 21, 1931 in Winn, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Michael and Catherine Suhar Palcko. She loved playing Bingo and watching sports, and was a fan of the Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. She was also a member of the Isabella Guild of the Knights of Columbus. She was a 50-year resident of Mentor.
Mrs. D’Amico is survived by her four sons: Raymond (Susan) of Cecilia, Kentucky, Christopher (Patricia) of Mentor, Richard and Michael of Mentor; four grandchildren: Katherine, Teresa, Joey and Ben; and two sisters, Elaine (Elmer) Minichiello of Mayfield Heights and Mickey (Gary) Federico of Willowick.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Raymond, on Sept. 16, 2007 and a son Nicholas on Feb. 15, 2008, as well as her parents.

Rev. Bode was taken to Glory on Friday, September 26, 2008.
He was born November 8, 1935 in Garfield Heights and lived there until he was eight years old, when his family moved to California. He returned to Lake County in 2000, having also has also lived in Wisconsin, Kansas and New York City.
He enjoyed photography, coin collecting, painting watercolors and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club in Kansas while living there.
Rev. Bode was ordained into Holy Ministry in March 1963, and has served Churches in Wisconsin, Ohio, Kansas and New York City before retiring due to ill health in 1999 and moving back to Ohio. He has most recently served as Pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cleveland from 2001 until the Church was sold in 2008. His ministry has touched many lives, and he was touched by many lives, also. Our loss is Heaven’s gain! Praise the Lord!
Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Ruth L. (Hutter) Bode; sons, Karl (Rose) Bode of Ojai, California and John (Charlene) Bode of Parsons, Kansas; foster daughter, Rebecca (Randy) Lake of Kettering, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and sister, Bernice (Robert) Sheppard of Las Vegas, Nevada. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.
His parents, Herman F. and Wanda (Rossnagel) Bode are deceased.

Mr. Phillips passed away September 24, 2008 at Kemper House in Mentor.
Born June 9, 1914 in Cleveland, he was a longtime Lake County resident before retiring to Florida, where he lived in Deland and Deltona for 21 years. He returned to Lake County eight years ago.
He was a World War II US Navy veteran and a member of Benevolent Protective Order of Elk, Willoughby-Cleveland Lodge 18. He was a member of the Deltona Country Club where he enjoyed golfing and playing cards and enjoyed gardening and working in his yards. He had also been a minor league baseball player.
Mr. Phillips was employed as an adjuster for State Auto Company before his retirement.
Survivors are his grandchildren, Phillip (Gail) Gabriel, Kelly Gabriel and David (Stacey) Gabriel all of Wickliffe and great grandchildren, P.J., Adam, Perry, Marissa, Morgan and Ava.
His wife of more than 50 years, Beatrice, passed away in 2000, and his daughter, Sharon Gabriel passed away in 1993. His parents and siblings are also deceased.
There will be no calling hours. Private burial will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park, Mayfield Village.

She was a graduate of Lake Erie College in Painesville and enjoyed writing, sewing and playing racquetball. She was also an avid Rollercoaster enthusiast.
Mrs. Nelson was employed as a systems analyst before her retirement.
Survivors are her daughters, Dr. Carla A. (Madden) (Tom) Baster and Lisa V. Nelson; and grandchildren, Wendy, Tina, Andy and Pam.
Her husband, Donald E. Nelson passed away July 28, 2000. Her parents, Carl and Naomi (Cosgrove) Ley and brothers, Paul and Allen Ley are also deceased.

Mr. Grimm passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008.
Born September 10, 1927 in Manheim, West Virginia, he has lived in Willoughby for the past 50 years.
He was a 1945 graduate of Rowlesburg High School in Rowlesburg, West Virginia and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2300 in Willoughby and as an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking and enjoyed tending to his roses and sitting on his front porch, serving as the ‘mayor’ of Third Street and Clark Avenue.
Mr. Grimm was employed as a chemist for Alpha Cement and as a laborer at the former Ohio Rubber Company in Willoughby, before joining the United States Postal Service as a clerk. He retired from the Willoughby Post Office in 1993 after 30 years of service there.
Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Lilan (Shaffer) Grimm; daughter, Donna (Bernard) Pazicni and son, Greg (Denise) Grimm, both of Willoughby; grandchildren, Mark (Jennifer) Pazicni, Melissa (Jason) Davis, Nicholas Grimm and Holly Grimm; great grandchildren, Miles Davis and Alex Pazicni; siblings, Elsie Johnson and Charles Grimm, both of Kingwood, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles F. and Etta (Braham) Grimm, brothers, Walter and Clarence Grimm and half-siblings, Nina Bishoff, Tom Tayman and Harvey Tayman.

Private family services have been held for Marjory Ellen (Baird) Otte, 84, of Willoughby.
Marjory passed away September 13, 2008 at Euclid Hospital.
Born January 14, 1924 in Springfield, Ohio, she had lived in Columbus, Ohio and Deland, Florida before moving to Willoughby this past January.
She was a graduate of Wittenberg University in 1946 and a member of the Alpha Xi Delta fraternity. She also was a past president and served on the board of Ponce de Leon Lighthouse Association in Florida. She was involved in the restoration of the James Thurber House Foundation in Columbus.
Marjory was a teacher in the Southwestern City School District in Franklin County, Ohio before her retirement.
Survivors are her children, Ann (Otte) Hunger of Columbus, John L. (Libby) Otte of Kaneohe, Hawaii, James R. (Sheila) Otte of Cincinnati and William B. (Lynda) Otte of Mentor, Ohio; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Her husband, Richard W. “Dick” Otte passed away March 3, 2006.
