H. Matson Smith

Memorial services for H. Matson Smith, 86, of Willoughby, will be 2 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at The Lyons Chapel at Breckenridge Village, 36859 Ridge Road, Willoughby.

Mr. Smith passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.

Born May 29, 1925 in San Francisco, CA, he lived in many locales around the world as his father was in the United States Army.  Before moving to Breckenridge Village in Willoughby 3½ years ago he lived in Falls Church, VA.

He enjoyed volunteering and socializing at Breckenridge Village and was a championship Scrabble player.

Mr. Smith was a United States Army veteran and was employed by the United States Government before his retirement.

Survivors are his cousins, Mary Ashley Gustafson of Willoughby, George M. Mack of Mercer Island, WA and Susan M. Runkle of Cedar Falls, IA and their extended and loving families. 

His wife, Marie Lange Smith passed away in 2005.  His parents, Harvey H. and Ethel Matson Smith are also deceased. 

There will be no calling hours.  Private family inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
