Services for Allen Russell Oaks, 88, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
Mr. Oaks passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born July 28, 1926 in Jonesville, VA, he was a 32-year Eastlake resident, before moving to Cape Coral, FL where he resided for ten years. In 1997, he returned to Willoughby, spending half of the year here and continuing to spend his winters in Florida. He returned to Mentor in 2012.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving in Japan during World War II. He enjoyed fishing and boating and spending time with his family.
Mr. Oaks was employed as a quality control inspector at the former Chase Brass and Copper Company in Euclid, retiring in 1988 after 38 years of service.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Jessie (Corey) Oaks; son, David (Jenne) Oaks of Wickliffe and granddaughters, Katie and Kerrie Oaks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Bessie (Irvin) Oaks, brother, Glen Oaks and sisters, Martha Ingle, Dorothula Necessary and Betty Lane are also deceased.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the funeral home. Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery.
