Barbara M. Parsons

Services for Barbara Mae (Zempel) Parsons, 80, of Mentor, a homemaker, will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor. The Rev. Beverly L. Wrobel will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, prior to the service, at the Church.

Mrs. Parsons passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at Kemper House in Mentor.

Born August 26, 1932 in Angola, NY, she was a longtime Lake County resident.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby, where she sang in the choir and also performed as a soloist. She also worked as a clerk and precinct judge for the Lake County Board of Elections and was a member of the Holden Arboretum in Kirtland.

Survivors are her daughter, Susan Parsons of Wickliffe and son, David (Terri Ann) Parsons of San Marcos, CA; grandson, Michael (Joy) Parsons; great grandson, Liam and sisters, Martha Z. Miller of Waverly, OH and Pauline (Russell) Dodge of Unionville, OH. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Parsons on February 24, 2003 and her son, Robert B. Parsons in 1998. Her parents, Reinhold and Edith Rose (Atkins) Zempel, and brother, Robert Zempel are also deceased.

Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery following the services at the Church.
