Barbara Jean Seiter

Services for Barbara Jean (Custer) Seiter, 85, of Willoughby, will be at 10 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. The Rev. Byron R. Bufkin of Mentor Plains United Methodist Church will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Seiter passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Heartland of Mentor.

Born December 26, 1929 in Willoughby, she was a lifelong Willoughby resident.

She was a lifetime member of Mentor Plains United Methodist Church, a graduate of the former Willoughby Union High School, class of 1947 and also received an honorary degree from Boston College. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Willoughby Chapter 202.

Mrs. Seiter was employed as the first financial aid director at Lakeland Community College, retiring in 1985. She had previously worked at the former Ohio Rubber Company and the Willoughby-Eastlake School System.

Survivors are her son-in-law, Harry Mason of Mentor; niece, Susie (Craig) Rickart and nephews, Ken (Sonja) Smith and Dave (Karen) Smith and their families, and her cousin, Mary Frederick and her family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bethann Mason on December 27, 2014. Her parents, Byron and Clara-Belle Custer and sister, Louise Smith are also deceased.

Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery following the service on Saturday.
