Betty M. Blankenship

Services for Betty M. (Thompson) Blankenship, 83, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, will be at 10 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Mentor East Heisley Church of God, 5544 East Heisley Road, Mentor. Pastor Hank D. Williams will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 PM on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Church.

Mrs. Blankenship passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Heartland of Mentor.

Born October 30, 1931 in Coal City, WV, she has lived in Mentor-on-the-Lake for the past 54 years.

She attended Mentor East Heisley Church of God.

Survivors are her son, Garry L. Blankenship (fiancée, Julie Ellis) of Mentor-on-the-Lake and daughter, Kathy (Rev. Darrell) Lynn of Willoughby; grandsons, David (fiancée, Nicole Luker), Joseph, Stephen and Nathan; great-grandson, Gabriel; sister, Sue (Jerry) Simpson of North Olmsted. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis in 1997. Her parents, Joseph and Nellie Thompson and siblings Margaret, Hattie, Evelyn and Paul are also deceased.

Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery following the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to The American Heart Association.
