Bonnie Jean Staton

Memorial services for Bonnie Jean (Collins) Staton, 97, of Willowick, will be at 11 AM on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11 AM, prior to the service. The Rev. Brian Landrum will officiate at the service.

Mrs. Staton passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 surrounded by her family, at the Residence of Chardon.

Born April 5, 1917 in Akron, she moved to Bucyrus as a young child, after her father’s death, and graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1935. She met her husband, Paul F. Staton there and they moved to Willowick where she spent the majority of her adult life.

Bonnie and Paul traveled to all of the lower 48 states. She enjoyed shopping, painting, drawing, decorating, reading collecting tea cups and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors are her daughter, Sharon “Sherri” (William/“Bill”) Ruple of Kirtland of Kirtland; son-in-law, Louis Fischer of Norton, MA; grandchildren, Jeffrey William (Amanda) Ruple of Kirtland and Jonathon Paul (Lynette) Ruple of Chardon and great grandchildren, Alexandra Nichol “Ali” Ruple, Marissa Jane Ruple, Jonathon Paul “Jack” Ruple, II and William Henry “Hank” Ruple.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Paul F. Staton in 2002, and her daughter, Dianna Kay Fischer in 2011. Dianna was a graduate of Lutheran East High School in Cleveland and attended college in Boston, where she majored in communications. She had lived in Norton, MA for 21 years. Bonnie’s parents, Howard and Harriet (Turk) Collins are also deceased.
