Burl G. Bishop

Services for Burl G. Bishop, 80, of Tuscaloosa, AL, will be at 3 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at New Promise Church, 8671 Chardon Road, Kirtland. The family will receive friends from 1 - 3 PM on Saturday at the Church.

Burl passed away March 2, 2013 at DCH Health System in Tuscaloosa, AL.

He was born February 13, 1933 in Barnesville, AL, the eldest of four children born to Henry G. and Myrtle (Feldman) Bishop.

Burl was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. At the time of his enlistment, he was living in Adrian, MI. He was also a member of the Masonic fraternity and the AMVETS.

He came to the Cleveland area in 1955, and lived in Bedford, East Cleveland and Mentor, before moving to Hamilton, AL in 1992 to be near his mother.

For about 30 years, he was an automobile salesman for various dealerships, including the former Trotter Ford, Spitzer Ford, Stanton Ford, Stoddard and McClintock Ford in Chardon. He was also a manager for the former Lawson ‘s Dairy Stores.

Survivors are his children, Yvonne (Erik) Pearson of Tempe, AZ; Barbara (Joe) Donofrio of Brunswick; Esther (Jerry) Schroeder-Hans of Annapolis, MD; Jeffrey (Debora) Bishop of Canfield and Bradley Bishop of Willoughby; grandchildren, Charles Seifried of Carlsbad, NM; Joseph and Jake Donofrio, both of Brunswick; Richard, Harvey and Samantha Schroeder of Annapolis, MD and Jeffrey and Marie Bishop of Canfield; two great grandchildren; brother, Mark (Gloria) Bishop of Adrian, MI and sisters, Grace Oliver of AL and Carolyn (Dan) Eads of Winfield, AL. He also leaves his former wife, Louise Bishop of Mentor and many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Robert Oliver.

Private interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
