Carl R. Lemponen

Memorial services for Carl R. Lemponen, 76, of Wickliffe, will be at 4 PM on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Graveside service and Interment will be at 10 AM on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Crown Hill Cemetery, 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. David Chapman of Nottingham Baptist Church will officiate at the services.

Mr. Lemponen passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at his home.

Born February 7, 1937 in Ashtabula, he was a longtime Willowick resident and then lived several years in Lexington, IL before returning to Wickliffe in 1996.

He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving from 1955-1959. He loved fishing, boating, camping and working on his cars.

Mr. Lemponen was employed as a machinist at Caterpillar/Towmotor in Mentor and also in Illinois, retiring after more than 30 years of service.

Survivors are his daughters, Kimberly D. (Charles) Avery of Bellefontaine and Lisa A. Lemponen of Wickliffe. He also leaves his brother, Arden (Sallie) Lemponen of Mentor and their families.

His wife of 43 years, Judith L. (Hammink) Lemponen, passed away May 4, 2005 and his son, Gary L. Lemponen passed away in September 2, 1990. His parents, Hubert and Lavon (Funk) Lemponen are also deceased.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to a favorite charity.
