Catherine Mae Ash

Memorial services for Catherine Mae (Herendeen) Ash, 89, of Mentor, will begin at 6 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. The Rev. Donald P. Beaumont of Bethel Lutheran Church will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Katie passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Mapleview Country Villa in Chardon.

Born August 24, 1926 in Painesville, she had lived in Willoughby for more than 60 years.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Urania Chapter 284 in Painesville, and enjoyed roller-skating with the love of her life, her husband, John.

Mrs. Ash was employed at as the secretary to the President of the former Ohio Rubber Company in Willoughby and then later worked at Brandt’s Candies in Willoughby for more than 50 years.

Survivors are her son, Tim (Christine) Ash of Mayfield Village; daughters, Susan (Gregory) Ash-Sanford of Leroy Twp., Catherine (Thomas) Holtman of Chardon and Betsy (Michael) Sankovich of Eastlake; grandchildren, Jodi, Christine, Thomas and Matthew; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Laura (Clarence) Overbaugh of Eastlake and brother, William Herendeen of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Oscar “John” Ash on May 11, 2015. Her parents, Charles and Thelma (Buscher) Herendeen and brothers, Charles, Ray, David and Tom Herendeen are also deceased.
