Cathy Susan Engel

Celebration of Life for Cathy S. (Williams) Engel, 74, of Mentor, will be held from 1-5 PM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at The Loft at Red, Wine & Brew, 9620 Old Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Mentor.

Cathy passed away peacefully November 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 30, 1949 in Waynesboro, Virginia. Growing up she spent most of her young school years in Cincinnati. She moved to Erie, Pennsylvania in 1966 and graduated from McDowell High School in 1967. She met her husband, David, in August 1968 and they were married May 20, 1969.

Cathy worked in human resources for 36 years at Lubrizol Corp. and retired in 2016 as ethics manager. She earned her degree at Hiram College, graduating with honors.

She loved family deeply and enjoyed spending time with family and friends as much as possible. She volunteered as a tutor at Upson Elementary School for many years. She was a blood donor for over 50 years. She loved travelling with friends especially to Niagara on the Lake where she visited often. She adored her dogs and walking at Holden Arboretum and always enjoyed reading a good book.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, David J. Engel; children, Todd (Julie) Engel and Betsy Engel; grandchildren, Adam, Jacob, and Ethan Engel and Isabella and Sarah Acevedo; daughter-in-law, Rachael Engel; brother, Scott Williams; siblings-in-law, Douglas Engel, William (Tracy) Engel, Wendy (Tom) Engel, Fritz (Michelle) Engel, Kurt (Tammy) Engel, and Eric (Mauro) Engel. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families and also many wonderful, loyal friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Jeanette (Howell) Williams and her nephew, Jesse Williams.
