Christy Calvert

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Christy Lee (Thompson) Calvert, 61, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor. The Rev. Kathy U. Dickriede and the Rev. Beverly L. Wrobel will officiate at the service. Mrs. Calvert passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Born October 27, 1951 in Painesville, she was a longtime Mentor resident, having lived briefly on Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights and Welshfield. Christy was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church, a graduate of Mentor High School, class of 1969 and a graduate of Hiram College, class of 1973, where she was editor of the college newspaper and was very active in college theatrical productions. She enjoyed antiques, theatre, the arts, music and meeting and talking with people and developing friendships. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, James J. Calvert; daughters, Katie and Meghan Calvert, all of Mentor and sister, Michal Thompson of Stockport, OH. Her parents, James Riley and Mary Lou (Burke) Thompson are deceased, who were the former owners of Gable Galleries Antiques in Mentor. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Friday, November 2, 2012 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Mentor United Methodist Church, earmarked for Women's Ministries, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, OH 44060.
