David C. Metcalf

Memorial services for David C. Metcalf, 74, of Waite Hill, will be at 12 Noon on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mr. Metcalf passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Hospice House in Cleveland.

Born February 12, 1940 in Cleveland, he was a lifelong Lake County resident, in Waite Hill for the past 40 years.

He was a life member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18 in Cleveland, Temple Lodge #28 F. & A.M. (formerly George A. Holly Lodge #745); Al Koran Shrine, Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland and attended Mentor United Methodist Church.

Mr. Metcalf was employed as an operating engineer for over 40 years, most recently working for All Erection & Crane Rental in Independence. Since his retirement in 2004, he has enjoyed his involvement with the Historical Engine Society in Burton and the Historical Construction Equipment Association.

Survivors are his beloved wife of 53 years, Janice M. (Lappin) Metcalf; daughters, Beth (Mel) Morgano of Aurora and Laura (Mike) Eusanio of Concord Township; grandchildren, Katie and Dan Morgano, and Sarah and Lauren Eusanio and sisters, Annette (Harry) Sheldon of Austinburg and Marian (Blair) Cockerline of Puyallup, WA. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Lynn (David) Hadesh; a nephew, three nieces and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter “Woody” and Dorothy (Harland) Metcalf.

The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the funeral home. The Rev. Beverly L. Wrobel of Mentor United Methodist Church will officiate at the services. Final resting place will be in South Kirtland Cemetery following the service on Saturday.
