Mrs. Tackett passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 at her home in Mentor.

Born December 28, 1931, in Mattie, KY, she graduated from Louisa High School, KY. She continued her education at Berea College in Berea, KY where she met the love of her life, Carlos L. Tackett, and where they married in 1951 at Danforth Chapel on campus. They lived in Stuttgart Germany and traveled throughout Europe while Carlos served as a specialist in the Army. They later moved to Mentor in 1958 which she has made her loving home for the last 67 years.

Mrs. Tackett was employed at the age of fourteen as a live-in nanny and subsequently worked throughout her life to help provide for her family. Her last position was as the executive secretary for the Department of Parks and Public Lands in the City of Mentor until she retired in 1995.

She was a member of the former Willoughby Chapter #202 Order of the Eastern Star, and a faithful member of Mentor United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Couples Club, worked at the rummage sale and Gingerbread House, and served at More Than A Meal. She loved to play golf with her close friends Edie and Doris with whom she would snowbird to Cocoa Beach, Florida for many years. She meticulously tended her garden of hybrid tea roses and enjoyed the company of her cats Tigger and Frisky. “Grammy” loved to dote on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made everyone she knew feel like family.

Survivors are her children, Dr. Alicia Ann (John) Mrachko and Charles W. “Chuck” (Jill) Tackett; grandchildren Sarah (Nick) Navarro, Lauren (Scott) Brookes, Daniel (Killian) Mrachko, Charlie Tackett, David Tackett, and Samantha Tackett; and great-grandchildren Simon Brookes and Grace Ann Brookes; and also her sister Mary Jean (William) Woodward and brother-in-law Roy E. (Gail) Tackett, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Carlos (September 23, 2002), her parents, Robert and Roberta Ann (Moore) Ball, sister Doretha (Ball) Hitchcock, and brother Norman Ball.

Final resting place will be Mentor Cemetery.
