Chapel services and interment for Dixie Irene Zajac, 94, of Wickliffe, will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
Mrs. Zajac passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at The Fairways in Wickliffe.
Born June 29, 1919 in Loudenville, WV, she was a longtime Willowick resident before moving to The Fairways in 2001.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Willowick, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, worked with the AWANA youth group, vacation bible school and many other activities.
Survivors are her husband of 55 years, Paul Pete Zajac, whom she married on July 30, 1958 in Cleveland; sons, Gerald William Ernest of Mentor, Donald Louis (Phyllis) Ernest of Somerset, KY and Victor Dale (Susan) Ernest of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter-in-law, Gloria Ernest of Cumming, GA; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She also leaves her step-children and many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Dallas and Edith Hazel (King) Allenby and her sisters, Edna Virginia Williams, Ethel Louise Lynch, Irene Hartley Epstein and brother, William Leroy Allenby.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at The Fairways Assisted Living Center in Wickliffe and the staff of Hospice of the Western Reserve, Inc.
