Donald George Horvath

Funeral service for Donald G. Horvath age 80 of Eastlake will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.

Mr. Horvath passed away October 27, 2015 at Hospice House in Cleveland, surrounded by his family. He was born June 30, 1935 in Cleveland.

Mr. Horvath was an electrical engineer, retiring from Gould Inc. in 1990. Prior to that he worked at NCR in Cambridge, Ohio, RCA Corp. in New Jersey and the Clevite Corp. in Cleveland.

He was a 1953 East High Graduate serving as President of the National Honor Society. He went on to graduate from Ohio University, receiving his PhD in electrical engineering.

He was a fun loving, family oriented man who adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always optimistic, found happiness in insignificant details, and was thoughtful and selfless.

Mr. Horvath enjoyed making miniatures, customized calendars, spray painting, and gardening.

Mr. Horvath’s family would like to extend their appreciation to Manor Care in Willoughby for their ongoing care in support of their dad.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Ruth (Dobray) Horvath; loving father to Linda (Eric) Sala, Jim Horvath, Bob (Beth) Horvath, Laura (John) Dugan, Kathy (Jim) Castrataro; special PAP PAP to Brooke (Kevin) Robertson, Bryan (Gina) Speelman, Bob (Jen) Speelman, Brandon (Erin) Horvath, Megan (Kim) Horvath, Heather (Dave) Light, Blaire (Mike Kappel) Horvath, Melanie Horvath, Becky Horvath, Melissa (Tom) Evanchuck, Brett, Ryan and Carli Dugan, Juli (Mike) Karns, Michella, Patrisha and Jim Castrataro; great-grandchildren Timmy and Madeline Robertson, Tommy, Sammy and Joe Speelman, Gabriella, Nicholas, Aubrianna, and Zachary Speelman, Michael Kappel, Sophia Horvath, Marlee Light and Olivia Karns; sister Susan Hannan; God-daughter Ashley Lampman; he is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eleanor (Hampe) Horvath.

Family will receive friends 3:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, October 30, 2015 at the funeral home.

Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
