Memorial services for Dorothea “Dottie” Bahr (nee Phillips), 99, of Willoughby, will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Willoughby United Methodist Church, 15 Public Square, Willoughby.
Mrs. Bahr passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at her home.
Born February 15, 1914 in Lima, PA, she has lived in Willoughby for the past 67 years.
She was a member of Willoughby United Methodist Church, the American Legion Palmer-Roberts Post 214 Auxiliary and the Willoughby (Browning) Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards. She was active in the Senior Olympics where she competed in the shot put event and was also an avid bocce and scrabble player.
Mrs. Bahr was recognized by the City of Willoughby for her years of service with the American Legion Auxiliary in the sale of Poppies at the Ohio Rubber Company and in downtown Willoughby.
Mrs. Bahr was employed at the former Ohio Rubber Company in Willoughby, retiring in 1976.
Survivors are her children, Marvin (Elizabeth) Bahr of Kirtland and Nancy Poplawski of Mentor; grandchildren, Emily (Greg) Miller, Kate Bahr, David Bahr, Mark Poplawski (fiancee, Michelle), Sarah Poplawski, Brian Poplawski and Becky (Greg) Poplawski; four great grandchildren and nieces, Betsy Mark, Bobbie Young and Wendy Kemmerer.
Her husband, Floyd, passed away in 1984. Her parents, William and Ada Phillips, brothers, Howard and Robert Phillips; sisters, Clara Wiley and Helen Phillips and son-in-law, Ronald Poplawski are also deceased.
Private interment will be in Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Hospice of the Western Reserve, Inc., 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110-2602.
