Dorothy F. Balcam, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023.
She was born April 27, 1937 in Euclid, Ohio.
Dorothy, or “Dot” as those who knew her well would call her, was the daughter of Frank and Frances (Juratovac) Golobic. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In her younger years, Dorothy was an avid swimmer and lifeguard at Clarkwood Beach in Euclid.
She worked at General Motors for several years.
She married her soul mate, Dick, on June 26, 1959 and started a family. She enjoyed gardening and had a beautiful rose garden at her home in Willoughby Hills. She was a great cookie baker, and loved to bake Christmas cookies with her children and later with her granddaughter, Jessica.
Dorothy was not afraid to get her hands dirty, and helped Dick build two homes. She enjoyed traveling with
Dick later in life and even occasionally fished in Canada. She loved to dance the polka, had a great sense of humor and at times was quick with a joke or two, and she never turned down a glass of wine. Dorothy showed her happiness with a beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eye when she was especially happy.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard D. “Dick” Balcam, Sr.; her parents, her brother, Daniel C. Golobic and sister-in-law and dear friend, Elaine “Boots” Balcam.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Shari (Michael) Elersich; granddaughter, Jessica (nee: Elersich) (Nicholas) Crea; son, Richard D. (Nannette) Balcam, Jr.; step-granddaughter, Alexes Sherwood; sister, Janet Pintar and sister-in-law, Dolores Golobic. She also leaves her dear friends, Fifi and Woody Bliss and her nieces and nephews and their families.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
