Services for Edward L. Harris, 63, of Willoughby, will be at 10 AM on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. The Rev. Robert Gaston will officiate the service.
Ed passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born December 8, 1950 in Braddock, PA, to the late Alexander Harris and Martha Weir Harris of Willoughby, who survives.
Ed is a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of American Legion Post 214 where he served as 3rd Vice Officer and the Honor Guard and enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting.
He retired in 2013 after working 12 years with All Erection and Crane Corp. Ed formerly worked at Air Technical Industries for 25 years. He was formerly a Willoughby Special Police Officer for 5 years.
Survivors are his mother, Martha Harris of Willoughby; daughter Kim (Monte) Schlaht of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Schlaht; his brother Ronald Harris of Willowick and his nephews Justin and Michael Harris. Ed is also survived by his dear friend Kelly Schoenfeld.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Harris.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the funeral home. American Legion Post 214 services will be at 7:30 PM. Final resting place will be in Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
