A gathering to celebrate the life of Edwin Whitlock Mills, Jr., 72, of Kirtland, will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
Social distancing protocols will be enforced, so you may encounter a wait to enter the funeral home, and masks will be required.
Mr. Mills passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at his home in Kirtland.
Born July 5, 1948 in Painesville, he was a lifelong Kirtland resident.
Mr. Mills taught physical and outdoor education for five decades. His greatest love for teaching was at The Red Oak Camp in Kirtland, where he taught children to appreciate and value the outdoors, through fire building, games and especially music.
His love for music created many long and lasting relationships, which created a community of people who will carry his song forward.
Survivors are his wife of 20 years, Pamela (Nettleton) Mills; son, Zak Mills (fiancé, Jessica Simpson) and daughter, Lindsey (Chris) Robison; grandchildren, Zachary and Lily Robison; brother, Jeff (Terry) Mills; nieces, Julie (Dan) Schrickel and Kyle (Kent) Manson; great nieces and nephews, Gavin, Reagan, Elle and Emery. He also leaves Pamela’s children, Vanessa Eliason, Matthew Rockower, Marilyn Jarc, Serena Rockower, Benjamin Rockower, Ashlyn Rockower, Jordan Rockower and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Whitlock, Sr. and Lorraine Ruth (Brown) Mills.

Private family interment will be in South Kirtland Cemetery.
