Elisabeth S. Celizic

April 6, 1927 — January 29, 2024

Elisabeth “Betty” Celizic, 96, of Willoughby, passed into the loving arms of Jesus at Mentor Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mentor on January 29, 2024. She was born On April 6, 1927 in Cleveland, to the late Gustav and Martha Sill.

Betty’s faith in the Lord was strong and never waivered through the ups and downs in life. She was always ready to listen, encourage, serve, and forgive. She loved her family and no one was a stranger to her. She made and kept many friends throughout her life including good friend, Doris Hackett.

Always a hard worker, often working two jobs, she was finally able to achieve a lifelong goal when she became a registered nurse at forty-eight years old. She loved working in the ER at the Cleveland VA until she retired at sixty-nine years old. Throughout her life, she balanced motherhood and a career without complaining and always giving her best to everyone.

Betty enjoyed music, playing the organ, and knitting. Our mom was a woman who loved to try new things, explore new places and treasured life.

Survivors include her children, Gretchen (Jim) Bernhardt and Patrice Havreberg; daughter-in-law, Karen Havreberg; step-children, Cheryl Holeski (special “daughter”), Vicky (Dwight) Shuler, Becky (Al) Erickson, Marcia (Tom) Cooper and Rex (Kathie) Abke; grandchildren, Natalie (devoted caregiver), Chad, Eiche, Erik, Chris, Rachel, and Becky; step-grandchildren, Brad, Justin, Meredith, Joseph, Jim, John, Tom, Tim, Amy, Ben, Matt, Teresa, Chad, and Lisa.
