Memorial services for Emil "Boomer" Mahovlic, 85, of Willowick, will be 6 PM Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. Mr. Mahovlic passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 with Hospice care, surrounded by his family. He was born August 21, 1926 in Cleveland, to John and Mary (Rudman) Mahovlic. He was married to Shirley (Jaffray) Mahovlic, who passed away in 2007. Boomer was a graduate of Collinwood High School, was a US Army veteran, having served in the Infantry in 1945 and 1946 and was a lifelong plasterer by trade. He was a member of the International Plasterers and Masons Union, Local # 80 of Cleveland and continued working into his late 70's. He was also an avid golfer and a huge follower of all of his kids and grandkids sporting events. Survivors are his son, John (Char) Mahovlic of Mentor, daughters, Pamela Occhipinti of Willowick and Cindy (the late John) Sebrasky of Willowick; grandchildren Jason (Cheryl), Todd, Mathew (Jenna) and Joshua; and great-grandchildren Derek "Boomer" and Emmy. Besides his parents and wife, he is preceded by his brother, John Mahovlic. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 3 PM until the time of services at 6 PM. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Crossroads Hospice, 9775 Rockside Rd., Suite 270, Cleveland, OH 44125.
