Erma Marie Heston (née: Gebeau), age 94, of Willoughby, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 5, 1931, in Painesville, Erma attended Harvey High School and went on to live a long and meaningful life defined by love, resilience, and quiet strength.
She was the beloved wife of 74 years to Roger Heston; a devoted and loving mother to Linda (Ray) Taylor, Jeffrey Heston (Catherine Dodson), Scott Heston, Diane (Jim) Thompson, and Renee (Shane) Segler; a cherished grandmother of Alyson (Bob) Spreng, William Taylor, Brittany Taylor (Joey Morency), Angela (Michael) Skisano, Bryan Heston, Jennifer (Chris) Franks, Whitney (Brandon) Abate, Megan Evans, Elizabeth (Mathyus) Holden, Tori Segler (Joe Bell-Carlin) and Lauren Segler; Great-grandmother of Bobby and Avery Spreng, Lennon, Ruby, Capri and Noemi Abate, Sammy, Mac, Luca and Henry Holden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. and Lillian Gebeau; her brothers, Charles Jr., James, and Richard Gebeau; and her grandson, Ryan Emond.
Erma had a gift for kindness and compassion. She found her greatest joy in bringing her family together, and her home was always a place of warmth, welcome, and laughter. Her gentle spirit and loving nature created lasting bonds and memories that will never be forgotten.
A dedicated homemaker, Erma later worked as a bookkeeper for several offices as well as the family business after raising her children. She enjoyed roller skating, golf, bowling, dancing, completing crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader throughout her life.
Through both her words and her actions, she taught those around her the importance of faith, compassion, and kindness. To her family, she was more than a matriarch—she was the heart of everything. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the values she instilled, and the love she gave so freely.
