Eugene R. Larned

Funeral services for Eugene R. Larned, 78, of Willoughby, will be at 11 AM on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Thursday and from 10-11 AM on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Larned passed away September 24, 2017 in Willoughby, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born February 16, 1939 in Painesville.

Eugene retired from Grand River Marina as their general manager. Prior to that, he was employed at Caterpillar in Mentor.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was very supportive of his granddaughters, Autumn and Summer’s sports endeavors, taking them to and from events and cheering them on. He was a loyal friend and he loved his dog, Buster.

Survivors include his daughters, Rene’ Matsko, Rachelle (Willy Crookshanks) Elder, Kimberly Bray, Tamara Elder, and Amber (Brian) Stokes; he is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families and his brother, Harold (Phyllis) Larned.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane A. Larned; son, Joseph Russell Larned; daughter, Pamela Bika; son-in-law, Joseph Bray; and siblings, Ruth, Bill, Dorothy, Kay, and Ed.

Private family interment will be in Willoughby Cemetery at a later date.

Family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110.
