Gene W. Rife, 76, of Mentor, entered into rest Friday, October 9, 2015 at Hospice of the Western Reserve.
He was born August 9, 1939 in Cleveland to the late Harvey E. and Lucille (Plunkett) Rife.
He graduated from Wickliffe High School and joined the Marine Corps.
He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elk, Cleveland-Willoughby Lodge 18, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Gene was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians and a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, his daughters and especially his grandchildren.
Gene was a welder at the former Towmotor plant in Mentor, retiring in 1981.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois (Radel) Rife; daughters, Lois (Jeff) Hahn and Brenda Rife and grandchildren, Jeremy R. and Lauren Hahn.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, Willoughby.
