Eugene L. Takacs

March 25, 1921 — January 10, 2014

Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene L. Takacs, born March 25, 1921, will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Saint Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine Street, Willowick. Family and friends will meet for a short prayer at 10:00 AM at the funeral home and proceed to Mass celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Ted Lucas.
Gene loved his wife Gloria A.(Coletto) Takacs. Their gift to their daughters Gloria Jean Takacs (Chuck Fenstermaker), Carol Mondichak (John Kipres, Jr.) and Jeanette Vargo (Jim Grida) was their enduring and unfaultering love for each other.
Eugene was a proud veteran of the United States Merchant Marine, serving aboard the Edmund B. Alexander during World War II.
Mr. Takacs was a truck driver for 41 years for Clark Controller Company (A. O. Smith) before his retirement.
Gene leaves behind grandchildren, Victoria (David) Potts, Tony Takacs, and Tim Takacs; great-grandsons, David and Gavin Potts and sisters, Marion (George) Measor and Malvina Schwartfigure.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria A., parents, Louis J. and Ellen (Hartman) Takacs, sister Eleanor Ennes and brothers, Louis F. and Edward Takacs .
The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Final resting place will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township, with military honors, following the Mass.
We are deeply grateful to family and friends who have shared their time and prayers, to each person who made "Gino's" breakfasts at Bob Evans and McDonald's a joy, to LakeTran drivers and to Mother Raffael and the kind staff at Mount Saint Joseph where Mr. Takacs passed away Friday, January 10, 2014.
Beginnings are usually scary, endings are usually sad, but it's everything in
between that makes it all worth living.
