Frank And Grace Sechnick

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the lives of Frank Albin and Grace Margaret Sechnick, formerly of Euclid, will be at 12 Noon on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at The Church of Saint Mary of the Assumption, 15519 Holmes Avenue, Cleveland. The Rev. Fr. John Kumse will celebrate the Mass.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mr. Sechnick passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Fairmount Health Center in Willoughby.

Born November 29, 1923 in Cleveland, he had lived in Euclid for 62 years before moving to Willoughby six years ago.

He was a World War II United States Army veteran and purple heart recipient. He was a member of the AMLA and SNPJ Slovenian Fraternal Organizations and a former member of Saint Mary Church in Collinwood, where he married his wife, Grace. They later were members of the former Holy Cross (now Our Lady of the Lake) Church in Euclid. He was famous for his garden which he tended to year-after-year. Frank and Grace were also known for their dancing abilities.

Mr. Sechnick was employed as central office repairman for the former Ohio Bell Telephone Company in downtown Cleveland. He retired in 1983 after 32 years of service.

Survivors are his son, David (Carolyn) Sechnick and daughter, Grace (Ron) Mazar; grandchildren, Ken (Megan) Sechnick and Melissa Sechnick (Eric Podmore); great-grandchildren, Calvin and Marcus Sechnick and sister-in-law, Jean Ostanek. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Grace Margaret (nee: Ostanek) on July 16, 2015. His parents, Frank and Frances (nee: Zdsar) Sechnick and sisters, Albina Adamich and Dorothy Rhodes are also deceased.

Final resting place will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, in a private family ceremony.
