Frank C. Wilde, 88, of Mentor passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Altercare of Mentor surrounded by his family. Frank and his wife, of 67 years, Lorraine (Bergstrom) Wilde have lived in Mentor since 1960, having moved from Madison.
Frank was born on January 3,1925 in Clymer, New York to John and Mildred Roush Wilde. He was a US Army veteran during WWII. He served from 1943-1946. Following the war, Frank and Lorraine married on November 30, 1946.
Mr. Wilde was a member of the Pipefitters Union, local #120, retiring in 1987. Frank also spent 50 years as a volunteer firefighter. Of those 50 years, he spent the last 21 years serving with the Mentor Fire Department. He retired from Station #4, as Captain, in 1986. He was also a former cub scout and boy scout leader, as well as a Ranger at Blackbrook Golf Course in Mentor.
Frank is survived by his wife Lorraine, children Wendy (Brian) Butcher of Willoughby and Mark (Kathy) Wilde of Mentor, grand-daughters, Amanda (Bill) Pate, Emily (Claudio Fuentes) Butcher and Anna Wilde. Also brother, John Wilde of Florida and sister Margaret Adams of Georgia. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Walker, and a brother Paul Wilde.
A private burial has been held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
