Fred R. Northern

Services for Fred R. Northern, 82, of Eustis, Florida will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mr. Northern passed away Friday, November 29, 2013.

Born February 22, 1931 in Boone, NC, he had lived in Mentor for 35 years, wintered in Eustis for 10 years and retired there permanently 15 years ago.

He attended First Baptist Church in Willowick and was a member of Lake Square Presbyterian Church in Leesburg, FL. He loved to golf and play bocce.

Mr. Northern was a lift truck operator and inspector at the former Caterpillar, Inc. in Mentor, retiring in 1986 after 31 years of service.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Rose (Minehart) Northern; children, Tina Marie Northern of Geneva, Patty Ann (Richard) Guy of Willowick, and Raymond (Naomi) Northern of Eastlake; grandchildren, Jason, Brianna, Bradley, Erika, Sean and Cali; 5 great-granddaughters; brother, Vance Northern of Tampa, FL; sisters, Frances Northern of Boone, NC, and Barbara Clawson of Hudson, NC. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Irene (Bond) Northern; his sister, Catherine Day and his step-son, George William Morris.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert P. Mieden of First Baptist Church of Willowick will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Twp. following the service.
