Frederick D. “Fred” Lace went peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded in love by his children on February 19, 2022.
Fred was a 50+ year resident of Painesville Twp. until moving to Middlefield in 2015 with the love of his life, Frances. Together for over 64 years, Fred and Frances paved a legacy of the “Lifestyle Example of Christ.”
Fred was mentored as a young boy by godly parents and it was from that foundation the road to trusting in Christ was paved and will be carried in generations to come.
Fred was also known for his peaceful spirit, love for his family (especially his 5 granddaughters) and his country. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a tank commander. For 45 years, Fred was a master machinist. He had a natural talent to fix anything.
Not only was he gifted with his words, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing the piano. Everyone who had the privilege to befriend Fred fell in love with not only his humor and wit, but also his humble spirit. He was truly an example of a “gentle” man and will be missed.
Survivors include his children, Doug Lace and Karen (David) Weaver and granddaughters, Amanda, Kylie, Ashley, Nicole, and Alison.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Hurst) Lace.
We would like to thank the staff of Ohman Family Living at Briar for being so kind and loving to our father.
