Gary L. Heidorn

Gary Heidorn, 79, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022.

He was born April 5, 1943 in Alum Bank, PA to the late Herman and Rena Heidorn.

Gary graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in New Paris, PA in 1960. And then completed a two-year program at a Johnstown business college. He was drafted in the Army in 1962, but was not shipped overseas.

After his military service, Gary moved to Cleveland, and worked at Key Bank where he met Francine Anelli, who would become his wife of 39 years. Gary retired as a manager at Key Bank, then later became a small business owner, running Concord Hardware. He enjoyed playing softball, having neighborhood cookouts and hanging out at the Mentor VFW.

Gary will be remembered as being a man of more than a few words, for debating with those whose opinions were wrong and for lovingly caring for his wife during her long battle with cancer. Gary made his grand exit one year shy of 80 years old and light years away from turning his daughter into a Republican.

He is survived by his son, Geoffrey of Mentor-on-the-Lake; daughter, Suzanne (Rich) Parubrub of Nashville, TN; his granddaughters, whom he adored, Cameron, Lia and Sage. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Carol Heidorn of Mentor, Maureen (Mike) Sabbagh of Mooresville, NC and Judy (Tom) Hruby of Mentor; and many loved nephews, nieces and extended family.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Francine; his brothers, Irving (Rose) and Richard (Carol) Heidorn and sister, Judy (Gerald) Lockard.

Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue in Willoughby, where funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Burial to follow at Mentor Cemetery.
