Services for George C. Cooper Sr., 88, of Mentor, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.

Mr. Cooper passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born Oct. 25, 1924, in Deep Valley, Pa., he was a longtime Willoughby Hills resident before moving to Mesa, Ariz., for several years and returning to Mentor where he had lived since 1994.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Painesville, Willoughby Lodge 302 Free and Accepted Masons and the Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland. He was also a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 0678 Willowick-Eastlake.

Mr. Cooper was the owner of Cooper Trailer Sales and Service in Willoughby Hills for 21 years.

Survivors are his wife of 45 years, Ann Mary (Foti) Cooper; son, George (Carol) Cooper Jr. of Concord Township; daughters, Suzann (William) Schwartz of Lakewood, Maryllis Dorsey-Scarso of Wickliffe and Ruth (Mark) Grim of New Freeport, Pa.; grandchildren, Michelle, Gregg, Melanie, Christian, Erin, Brandon, Logan, Nicole, Joshua and Haley; great-grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Meredith, Giovanna, Stella, Savannha, Wyatt and Dakota; and brothers, J. Forrest (Loretta) Cooper of Apollo, Pa., Joseph (Audrey) Cooper of Naples, Fla., and Jack (Sherry) Cooper of Rogersville, Pa. Many nieces and nephews survive him.He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Margaret B. (Masters) Cooper; and sister, L. Kathleen Baker.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the funeral home. Brethren of Willoughby Lodge 302 will conduct Masonic rites Tuesday evening. The Rev. Peter McCurdy, Senior Pastor and Pastor Beverly Keyse will officiate at the services. Final resting place will be in Acacia Park Cemetery in Mayfield Heights following the services.
