George E. Smith

Services for George E. Smith, Jr., 70, of Mentor, will be at 2 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Pastor Tony Senf will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends following the service on Thursday, until 4 PM and then from 6-8 PM, at the funeral home.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.

Mr. Smith passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.

Born February 29, 1944 in Cleveland, he was a lifelong Lake County resident.

He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. He also enjoyed woodworking and etching glass.

Mr. Smith was a CNC machinist, most recently with Eltech in Chardon.

Survivors are his children, MSgt. Kelly Rae (Marquis) Turner of Converse, TX, Amanda Joy Smith of Willoughby and George E. Smith, III (Erin Fitzpatrick) of Cleveland; granddaughter, Jasmine Rain Smith and sister, Sally Uritza of Mentor. He also leaves his former wife, Sandra Lee Smith of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. Sr. and Helen (Esterly) Smith and sister, Joyce Rostocil.
