Services for Georgeanna Rose Allen, 94, of Mentor, will be at 2 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor. The Rev. Dr. Ivy J. Smith will officiate at the service.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM on Saturday, prior to the services at the Church.
Mrs. Allen passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024 at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland after a brief illness.
Born July 17, 1930 in Lexington, KY, she has lived in Mentor for the past 58 years.
She has been a member of Mentor United Methodist Church since 1966, where she was formerly involved with the Ruth-Esther Circle and the Asbury Fellowship groups.
Mrs. Allen was a member of the former Willoughby Chapter 202 Order of the Eastern Star, (now Urania Chapter 284 in Painesville) where she served as Past Worthy Matron and Past Deputy Grand Matron; she served on the Willoughby Masonic Temple Board, and as a former board member and Mother Advisor of the Mentor Rainbow Assembly Chapter 119 and as a former board member of the Willoughby Rainbow Assembly Chapter 31.
She was also a volunteer at Lake West Hospital for nearly 30 years and a volunteer AARP Tax Counselor for nearly 20 years.
Survivors are her son, G. Thomas (Christine) Allen of Eagle, CO; daughters, Nina R. (Randy) Ivie of Durham, NC, Doris R. Allen of Plano, TX and Inez J. (Karl) Henry of South Euclid; grandchildren, English (Stephen) King, Amber (Steve) Davis, Preston (Ashley) Ivie, Tessa Allen, Georgeanna (Ryan) Korver, Erik Henry, Danielle Ostroski and Andrew Ostroski; great-grandchildren, Emery King, Ensley King, Ellery King, Landry Ivie, Connelly Ivie, Monroe Ivie, Fordham Davis, Baker Davis, Leilani Ostroski, Adonai Ostroski, Camden Case and Baby Boy Korver. She also leaves her brothers, Albert Rose of Mount Washington, KY and James Rose of Lakeland, FL and many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Cephas A. Allen on March 27, 1994. Her parents, George and Ruth (Neale) Rose and brother, Andrew P. Rose are also deceased.
Private family interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, KY on Monday, January 6, 2025.
