Memorial services for Gerald Preston “Jerry” Scott, Sr., 87, of Mentor, will be at 12:30 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor followed by a celebration of Jerry’s life at The Kennedy House, 38039 West Spaulding Street, Willoughby, (across the street from Davis-Babcock Funeral Home) from 1:45-3:45 on Saturday, November 23, 2013.
Jerry passed away on November 1 0, 2013.
Born August 5, 1926 in Willoughby, he was a lifelong Lake County resident, having lived in Mentor for the past 62 years.
Jerry graduated from the former Willoughby Union High School, was a World War II Navy veteran, a graduate of Kent State University, president and house founder of Delta Sigma Pi, president of the committee to develop Garfield Park in Mentor, and a long-standing board member of the former Mentor Recreation Park. He was also an avid golfer.
Mr. Scott was an accountant for several Cleveland and Lake County businesses.
Jerry was a devoted husband of 62 years to (Ruth) Jane; loving father of Gerald (LuAnn) Scott, Jr. of Cooper City, FL; Barbara (Susan) Boyle-Scott of Berlin Center, OH and Robert (Amy) Scott of Efland, NC; grandfather of Trista, Kelly, Paul, Emery, Joe, and Ben; great-grandfather of four; and uncle of John Franz.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Scott; his parents, Preston F. and Rachel (Carrell) Scott and his sister, Carol Franz.
A private burial will be held at Mentor Cemetery.
