Ginny Stein

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Virginia A. (Ginny) Stein, 77, of Mentor, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor.

Mrs. Stein passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 at The Preserve Senior Living in Mentor.

Ginny was born on October 5, 1944 in Ogdensburg, New York, and lived in Madrid, Canton, Rochester and Buffalo, New York before moving to Mentor in 1977.

She was an active member of Mentor United Methodist Church for 30 years. Ginny and Don, her husband, enjoyed serving on mission trips.

Ginny adored her dog, Rusty, and loved birdwatching, especially blue jays and chickadees. She will be remembered as a good friend to all, and was always concerned about others.

Mrs. Stein was employed at the Xerox Corporation in Rochester, NY and then worked as a school bus driver for Mentor Schools for more than 20 years.

Survivors are her son, Kevin (Maggie) Stein and grandsons, Hank and Gus Stein of Bozeman, MT; daughter, Kelly Stein of Mentor; sisters, Joan Ashley of Canton, NY and Yehudis “Jane” Stein of Miami, FL. She also has many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Donald R. Stein on April 30, 2022 and her parents, John Barnett and Elizabeth Jean (Kelly) Heaton.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Cleveland Clinic Hospice and Mentor Ridge for their compassionate care of Ginny.
