Gloria Rostocil

Homecoming Services for Gloria Jacqueline Leonora Rostocil, 94, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church, 8125 Mentor Ave., Mentor.

The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby and Wednesday from 10-11 AM at the church, prior to the service.

Gloria went to be with her Savior October 28, 2021 in Mentor. Born March 20, 1927 in Willoughby, she lived in Lake County all of her life.

Gloria was a 1946 Mentor High School graduate.

Family was everything to her. She loved family get togethers. She started each day by reading her Bible and praying for people that were on her list. She was a longtime, faithful member, attending Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor every Sunday where she taught Sunday School for years. She crocheted about 150 winter hats each year and gave some to Faith’s Mitten Tree and some to Cleveland’s City Mission to benefit those in need. She loved helping with Faith’s Operation SOUP food basket drives each year. She loved her cats, treating them like royalty, enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home, and was very proud of her English heritage, yet even in her last days still declared how much she loved the American flag.

Working almost 40 years as a cashier at various stores, she retired from being a cashier at Rogers in Chesterland (now Giant Eagle) after serving there 17 ½ years where she was loved by many customers that would only go through her line.

Survivors include her brother, Gordon Rostocil. She had many nieces and nephews and their families that she cared a great deal about and loved her very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank L. and Ivy G. (Longley) Rostocil and her siblings, “five of the seven blessings”, Theodore, Gilmore, Winifred, Paulina, and Eva.

Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery.
