Memorial services for Gordon L. Berg, 93, of Willoughby, will be at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 7989 Little Mountain Road, Kirtland Hills.
Mr. Berg passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
Born September 22, 1920 in Adams County, ND, he has lived in Willoughby for the past 53 years.
He was a World War II United States Army veteran; a member of a group of veterans who served during the Battle of the Bulge and a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church. He was an avid walker, golfer and enjoyed pitching horseshoes.
Mr. Berg was employed as an editor and vice president at Meister Media in Willoughby. He retired in 1985 after 25 years of service
Survivors are his daughters, Mary Logies of Eastlake and Susan (Mark) Bruce of Canton; grandchildren, Laura (fiancé Adrian Pooley) Berg, Kari Berg, Sarah Bruce, Rachel Bruce, Lisa (Theo) Gibbs, Sharon Bruce and Hope Bruce; great-granddaughters Ella and Fiona Gibbs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Esther B. Berg on July 16, 2013 and his son, Thomas G. Berg on June 10, 2014. His parents, Oscar and Adelaide (Peterson) Berg; sister, Edna Runeberg and brothers, Alvin, Lester, Clinton and Arlo Berg and son-in-law, Matthew Logies are also deceased.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 AM at the Church on Saturday prior to the service. The Rev. Kelly Kirby, Rector of St. Andrew Episcopal Church will officiate at the service.
