Harvey Lee Slagle

Memorial service for Harvey L. Slagle age 84, of Willoughby, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at The Lyons Chapel at The Nason Center of Breckenridge Village, 36859 Ridge Rd., Willoughby.
Mr. Slagle passed away Thursday December 12, 2013 at Fairmount Health Center in Willoughby. Born March 23, 1929 in Peru, Indiana. U.S. Army Veteran.Mr. Slagle was a counselor at Lake Geauga Center on Alcohol and Drug Abuse in Painesville. Prior to that he was a Willoughby policeman and mailman. Member First Christian Church in Willoughby. 31 year member of AA. Mr. Slagle was a “people person”.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jean; children Walt (Andi) Slagle of Fairborn, Ohio, Ryann (Keith) Chapman of Montville, Ohio, and Don (Candi) Slagle of Madison; daughter in law Karen Slagle of Virginia; grandchildren Amber, Jeremy, Rachael, Brittany, Brandon, Joseph and Anthony; great-grandchildren Harmony, William, Caleb, Sarah, and Leland; sister Margaret Davidson of Concord Twp., many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons John and Lee Slagle; Brothers Gerald “Bud” Hesser and Walter “Max” Hesser; mother and step-father Clara and Gerald Hesser.
Family suggests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44110 or Breckenridge Spiritual Life Endowment, 36855 Ridge Rd. Willoughby, Ohio 44094.
