Services for Hassell C. Harmon, 76,of Mentor, will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
Mr. Harmon passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his home.
Born September 3, 1937 in Big Rock, VA, he was a longtime Mentor resident.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and playing cards. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 1045 and a former member of the Fairport Rod and Reel Club. Most important in his life was his family and being the patriarch.
Mr. Harmon was employed as warehouseman and tow motor operator for General Motors Corporation at the former Fisher Body Division in Euclid. He retired in 1987 after 34 years of service.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Maggie; children, Charles (Alison) Huff of Mentor, Lisa (Mike Chandler) Harmon of Euclid and Mike Harmon of Mentor and grandson, Erik Harmon. He also leaves many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ella (Runyon) Harmon, brother, James Harmon and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Harmon.
The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert A. Gaston will officiate the service. Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery.
