Helen M. Schmitz

Memorial Mass for Helen Marie (Diemert) Schmitz, 89, of Willoughby, will be at 10 AM on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 37932 Euclid Avenue, Willoughby.

Mrs. Schmitz passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Lake West Medical Center.

Born September 30, 1923 in Cleveland, she was a longtime Lake County resident.

She was a longtime member of Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Willowick.

She is survived by her children, William Schmitz of Bratenahl, Peggy (Mark) Havel of Mentor, Robert (Lisette) Schmitz of Mount Airy, MD and Jean (John) Gigliotti of Chardon; grandchildren, Margaux (Michael) Murphy, Tim Schmitz, Adam Schmitz, Jeff Havel, Jane (John) Warren, Marilyn (Alex) Somers, Paul Havel, Michael Schmitz, Eric Schmitz, Steven Schmitz, Alex Gigliotti and Brian Gigliotti; great grandchildren, Tripp and Charlie Somers, Elizabeth Warren and baby Murphy due in March; siblings, Betty Gauntner, Tom, Richard, Harry and Bill Diemert. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

Her husband of 56 years, Ernest, passed away on February 19, 2002. Her parents, Stephen and Letitia (Merriman) Diemert; sister, Dorothy Whitmer and brothers, Joe and Steve Diemert are also deceased.

The family will receive friends from 3-6 PM Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Private family burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
