Hildreth Joann Buchan

Services for H. Joann (Parkins) Buchan, 94, of North Perry, will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Pastor Ken Sowers, Jr. of Prince of Peace Church in Mentor will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Buchan passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024.

Born March 27, 1930 in Patriot, Ohio, she has lived in Lake County for the past 66 years, many of those years in Willoughby Hills.

She was a devout Baptist by faith. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she also enjoyed gardening, quilting, knitting, entertaining, especially pool parties and buying and selling jewelry at auctions and flea markets.

Mrs. Buchan was employed as a registered nurse, working primarily in the labor and delivery rooms at Lake East and Lake West hospitals. She retired in 1995 after 30 years of service.

Survivors are her children, Sheryl (Bryce) Tischer of North Perry, Ohio, Robert (Cheryl) Buchan of Kirtland, Ohio and Brian (Sue) Buchan of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Makayla (Tyler) Rice, Angela (Jason) Laskodi, Kristan (Rich) Bryant, Nick (Paige) Mohr, Taylor Buchan and Andra Buchan and great-grandchildren, Hailey Rice, Kellan Rice, Brooke Bryant, Markus Laskodi, Nolan Mohr and Samuel Mohr. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce C. Buchan in 2014. Her parents, Edward and Bonnie (Taylor) Parkins, siblings, Earl (Pat) Parkins, Mildred (Dave) Harris and Marinelle (Leon) Jeffers are also deceased.

Final resting place will be in Acacia Park Cemetery in Mayfield Heights, following the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joann’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
