Howard Lee Houk

Howard Lee Houk, 82, of Mentor, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his home.

Born January 20, 1938 in Wampum, PA, he has lived in Lake County for more than 30 years.

Lee was a huge THE Ohio State University Football Fan and loved golfing; he held the first tee time every day at Powderhorn Golf Course in Madison for years. He loved gardening and caring for his roses. Lee and Sharon also enjoyed 17 winters in Sebring, FL as snowbirds.

Mr. Houk was employed as a teacher in the Willoughby-Eastlake School System for 32 years, retiring in 1992. He taught social studies for many years and then served as the director of the OWA program. He also sold tickets for the home football games at Willoughby South High School.

He was the beloved husband of 24 years of Sharon K. (nee: Dennis) Houk and devoted father of Kristin (Kurt) Houk-Graudons and stepson, Garrett Schillaci. He is also survived by his sister, Margie (John) Ollila, brother, Rick (Kathy) Houk and son, Andrew H., and leaves many nieces and nephews and their families and his granddogs, George and Stewie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard C. and Viola (Sholler) Houk and his son, Howard F. Houk.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, after Covid-19 restrictions have been eased.
