Hubert J. Orick

Services for Hubert J. Orick, 86, of Kirtland, will be at 7 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Orick passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born June 22, 1938 in Germantown, Maryland, he was a longtime Kirtland resident.

He was a member of the Kirtland Kiwanis Club, Temple Lodge 28 F. & A.M., (formerly Willoughby Lodge 302 F. & A.M.), the Kirtland Senior Citizens Center, Sons of the American Legion, Palmer-Roberts Post 214 in Willoughby.

Mr. Orick was self-employed as owner of the former Orick’s Barber Shop in Kirtland for 43 years, retiring in 2002.

He was also a longtime volunteer firefighter with the Kirtland Fire Department.

Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Virginia (nee: Bayus) (Harkleroad) Orick; children, Mark (Dolores) Harkleroad, Colleen (John) Janoch and Deana (Raymond) Schaefer; grandchildren, Michael Harkleroad, Candice (William) Cianni, James Janoch, Megan (Nate Harkins) Diemert and Mitchel Diemert and great-grandchildren, Leo Cianni and Adriana Cianni.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert R. and Mary (Johnson) Orick and his sister, Ruby “Tobbie” (Lyttle) Gower.

Graveside services will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at South Kirtland Cemetery.
