Services for Irene (Orosz) Heckler of Willoughby will be Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church, 435 SOM Center Rd., Mayfield Village.
Mrs. Heckler died April 18, 2013 at Governor’s Village in Mayfield Village.
Born in Fairport Harbor, she was a life-long Lake County resident. She served on the boards of St. John’s Home for Girls, Share-A-Home in Ashtabula and Semi-Independent Living Program in Painesville. She was a very active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Willoughby for 36 years before transferring to St. Bartholomew Church.
She became a Hospice Volunteer in 1986. In 1991, she received a West Lake County Exchange Club award for her Hospice volunteering and in 1997 was saluted in the News Herald’s Salute to Volunteers. In 2007 she was inducted into the Lake County Council’s Hall of Fame.
Survivors are her husband William, son, William J. (Lora) of Seven Hills, daughter, Holly H. (John) Rolf of Highland Heights and grandchildren, Jason, Heidi, Savannah and Jackson Rolf and Zachary M. Forrester,
Her brothers Stephen Gaul, William Gaul and Louie Orosz and her sisters, Helen Sziszak, Elizabeth Bell and Rose Riboczi are all deceased.
The family will be receiving friends from 9 – 10 AM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland 44110
