James E. Mcindoe

Funeral services for James E. McIndoe, 84, of Willoughby, will be at 10 AM on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the funeral home.

Mr. McIndoe passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Hospice House in Cleveland.

Born March 17, 1932 in Bronx, NY and raised in Yonkers, NY, he has lived in Willoughby for the past 60 years.

Jim was an U.S. Army Veteran, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and Kent State University and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega.

Jim was an Elementary School Principal in Wickliffe, Mentor, and Willoughby-Eastlake Schools, retiring in 1984. He was an AARP tax preparer, a Meals-on-Wheels driver and served as a nursing home ombudsman. Volunteering was important to him. He was a 2005 Lake County Council on Aging Hall of Fame recipient, a member of Lake County Retired Teachers Association and Willoughby United Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Sarah (Phillips) McIndoe; daughters, Laura McIndoe and Linda (Raymond) Ross; grandchildren, Sarah (Jack) Weber, John (Sarah) Ross, Trafford Evanoff and Yuzhun Evanoff. He also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Everette McIndoe and brother George McIndoe.

Private interment will take place in Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
