Janet A. Barnes

Janet A. (Bonness) Barnes, 91, of Willoughby, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at her home, built by her late husband, Gene, in 1948.

Born December 19, 1929 in Cleveland, she has lived in Willoughby for the past 73 years.

She was a graduate of the Andrews School for Girls in Willoughby, class of 1949. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many and brought grace, charm and a sharp wit to all who loved her.

Janet loved gardening and flower arranging. She enjoyed bird watching and sailing with her husband even though she didn’t know how to swim.

She is survived by her sons, Stanley (Kathleen) Barnes, Edwin (Susan) Barnes and Robert Barnes; grandchildren, Michael Barnes (Becky Nealis), Shawn (Bryan) Marshall, Jason (Jenny) Barnes, Matthew (Carla)
Barnes and Alex Barnes; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emma, Riley, Lucy and Sidney; great-great-grandson, Rowen.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gene M. Barnes in 2011, her parents, Edwin and Hazel (Beckwith) Bonness and sister, Laverne.
