Jean L. Reid

Memorial services for Jean Lois (Smith) Reid, 94, formerly of Willoughby, will be at 10 AM on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Willoughby United Methodist Church, 15 Public Square, Willoughby. The Rev. Dr. Hazel E. Partington will officiate at the service.

Mrs. Reid passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Hospice House in Cleveland.

Born December 26, 1927 in Cleveland, she moved to Willoughby in 1955 was a resident of Willoughby before moving to her daughter’s home in Mentor-on-the-Lake.

She was an active member of Willoughby United Methodist Church, where she chaired the Church Friendly Center for 30 years and volunteered wherever she was needed; she also volunteered at Lake West Medical Center for 50 years, and received the “Salt of the Earth” award from the Willoughby Rotary Club in 1990 and the Lakeland Community College Women’s Center Achievement Award in 1996.

Mrs. Reid attended East Cleveland Schools, graduating from Shaw High School class of 1946.

Survivors are daughter, Janice (Rodney) Steigauf; grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew and Aaron and great-grandchildren, James, Elliot, Ethan, Margaret and George.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, William in 1985 and her son, Steven in 2019. Her parents, Clement and Olive (Hill) Smith and sister, Vera are also deceased.

Final resting place will in the Willoughby United Methodist Church Columbarium.
