Jean A. Shawke

A celebration of the life of Jean (nee: Weber) (Hayford) Shawke, 86, of Mentor, will be at 3 PM on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM on Saturday, prior to the celebration of life.

Jean passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born July 28, 1938 in Cleveland, she has lived in Lake County for more than 76 years.

She was a member of the Mentor Senior Center, loved to scrapbook, shopping, lunch with friends, and spending time with her family.

Jean was employed with Mentor Public Schools cafeteria, mostly at Mentor High School, and later at Hopkins and Garfield Elementary Schools. She retired after 29 years of service.

Survivors are her daughters, Wendy Heiss, Kimberly (Donald) Anderson and Holly (James) Rankin; grandchildren, Bryon (Brittany) Anderson, Michael (Katie) Hayford, Marc (Sabrina) Hayford, Shawn (Stacy) Heiss, Megan (Jordan) Pratt, Katie (Geo) Shain, Michael Rankin, Shauna (Rodney) Wilson and Kristin (Scott) Johnson; twelve great-grandchildren and sister, Honey (Rick) Spangler.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Hayford in 1965 and Raymond Shawke in 1999. Her parents, Milton and Dorothy (Garbutt) Weber are also deceased.

Private family interment will be in Willoughby Cemetery.
