Joan M. Bauer {Schaefer} age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 24, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born April 14, 1931 in Cleveland, she has lived in Willoughby Hills for the past 55 years.
She started her career as a seamstress at Richmond Brothers in Cleveland successfully enough to buy a new car at age 19.
She proceeded to raise a loving family while expressing herself with many artistic ventures over the years including sewing, crocheting, stained glass, oil painting, pastels, interior decorating and even cooking. She commissioned hundreds of portraits out of her home and became the owner of "Etc.… Creative Gifts" in Mentor, and she later worked at custom framing shops in Willoughby.
Survivors are her sons, William {Lynn}, Robert {Nancy}, and Edward. She has eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren two nieces and one nephew.
Proceeded in death by her husband of 65 years, William Bauer, Parents Carl and Amy (Quale) Schaefer, brothers Robert and Richard.
Interment will be at Knollwood Cemetery, 1678 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Heights, OH 44124 on Saturday, May 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM. Please meet at the front entrance.
